July 5, 2010 by Jyoti Sharma   Comments (0)

The kind of  work i do  requires a lot of energy and positive attitude. And if you are running a team, then you can't be alien to the art of motivation. I run a team of 10 people. So, to keep them motivated I keep myself motivated.

Recently,I became the member of a group which helps you to Maintain the spice of your life. Today was my first session and I learnt a few basic principles of motivation that is :

  • Get Motivated everyday
  • Think positive
  • Have a vision in life
  • Fuel your passion
  • Work Hard to get results

Now my task is ... implementing these principles  in my day to day life and if i succeed i will also encourage my team members to adapt these principles.

Risk management ( A conference)

July 5, 2010 by P T Srinivas   Comments (0)

Thanks to my brother, got a chance to attend an conference on risk management. It was enlightening and proved very useful in clearing my confusion. Actually from the past 3 year i was planning to start something of my own ...and always risk involved in the new project have stopped my sailing but yesterday lots of bad air got cleared ...i don't  know about others but I personally enjoy  being around intellectuals....and that too when they help you to take important decisions. So let me Share some of my understanding with you .

Risk management is an important part of project management.

Here are some examples of common project risks:

  • Time and cost estimates too optimistic
  • Customer review and feedback cycle too slow
  • Unexpected budget cuts
  • Unclear roles and responsibilities
  • Stakeholder input is not sought or their needs are not properly understood
  • Stakeholders changing requirements after the project has started
  • Stakeholders adding new requirements after the project has started
  • Poor communication resulting in misunderstandings, quality problems and rework
  • Lack of resource commitment

Risks can be tracked using a simple risk log. Add each risk you have identified to your risk log and write down what you will do in the event it occurs and what you will do to prevent it from occurring. Review your risk log on a regular basis adding new risks as they occur during the life of the project. Remember, when risks are ignored they don't go away.

Project management is somehow incomplete without risk management. Longevity of any project is depend on its risk management.

Will Delhi be able to do it OR not ?.........................................is the debate among bunch of youngster sitting in the corner of Brista watching football match and appreciating the efforts given by the host country and then comparing  how every single part of the city is now days is filled with dirt & big holes  .I was sitting next to them ......... surprised that how now a days everything in Delhi is surrounded by the talks of commonwealth ,but why not we are proud to Host one of largest event in the world !. Suddenly i found that i m also within the debate , reminding of the question asked to me by my father that Being a project Manager what is your view about the ability of Delhi govt to fulfill its commitments ? which is still unanswered by the project manager but yes!  is the answer of the proud citizen ,but as an project manager i am still confused But  my return from Noida to Mayur Vihar gave me my answer which is No! not now. When i started my journey as an Project manager i was always told that when you say yes or no you should always be ready with why ? .So my why is because their is no project management thats why everything which seemed planned is not properly managed.  We have manpower , we are ready to spend so what is holding us to give good result is only lack of planning, coordination, management.
